Part 2

When we exchange detailed information, such as the steps in a recipe, we often have to ask for clarification in order to get the exact information we need. What language is used to ask for clarification? Underline the words and expressions.

A:

I’m not clear on what “hand hot” means.

B:

It means warm, but not very warm. If you put a finger in the milk, it shouldn’t get burned.

A:

Could you explain something else? Where should I let it stand?

B:

Well, any warm, safe place in your kitchen, really. I put mine in the oven, but I don’t turn it on. The inside of the oven is usually a little warmer than the rest of house, and no one will disturb it.

A:

What if someone wants to use the oven?

B:

Well, if you’re afraid that someone will turn on the oven while the yoghurt is in there, write a note and put it on the controls of the oven!
